Anderson Cooper

I love Anderson Cooper so much.  Why can't he leave his boyfriend and marry Kelly Ripa? They are the funniest thing on TV and I just love me some AC360 and his funny little giggle.  Anyone else LOVE them some Anderson?  If you do watch this and that.

2009 IS GOING DOWN....

Just like "TRASHKICKERS" weight!

Ya'll better bring it in 2010 because THE SPROCKET MAN is in the game and he is ON HIS GAME!

Me and my purse are going to show you who is boss!

I know I am a bit intimidating, but I am just keepin it real!

*p.s. this is Stacy posting on behalf of Todd.. he tried to post at the hospital, but the computer blocked him (drats!) and so he, being the good team player that he is, called me and asked me to post some trash talk on his behalf. And me, being the good partner I am, posted the most humiliating picture of him along with an ugly post.  He he he... FULL POINTS AND SOME LAUGHS!

Happy New Year

We are definitely starting off right! I know my teammate/eternal companion is a competitive jerk sometimes, but I'm proud of how "into" this he's been....I was a little nervous to be on his team! Maybe we'll take the winnings and go on a second honeymoon!!! Oh, I guess mom would have to come along, so maybe we'll save that for later! Anyway, Happy New Year and hope you all binge tonight (no purging allowed)!
another day of perfectness...that's right tyler, perfectness. go eat your burger and fries. life is good and so is my game :) happy new year!

PATHETIC!

I am getting loads of entertainment reading your posts. All of the lavishing and lamenting over a silly drink like diet coke or cafe rio salad (this one actually sounds good). I have been laughing so hard that I have already taken care of my exercise points for the day! Oh, and Mother, I thought I had convinced you to purge yourself of that Sinners (STACY) drink months ago! I am very disappointed to hear that you have been bootlegging it at work, and have mislead your youngest son! In this case I hope you feel remorse for your actions. Remorse often times can lead to small (and sometimes large) episodes of binge eating and insomnia.

I must say that my wife seemed a bit disturbed yesterday as I, in my very masculine way, did my squats, pushups, crunches, etc in nothing but my garments. I am hoping that this diet will restore the lust that I once saw in her eyes (yes, just once).

I am also happy to announce that I weighed in this morning on the official UPS scale downstairs at work. I am 3.5 lbs lighter than when I weighed in on Monday morning. This was just after a 16 oz gulp of water (which I used to love before starting this stupid contest) and prior to my morning defecation (hope "defecation" is okay mom, I knew you would get mad if I said "TERD"). So, I may not be chalking up all "perfect days" - but this is a marathon, not a sprint (although I would whoop you guys in a sprint too - not sure about Todd, but certainly you women). May the best water drinker win! Go Thighmasters (or are we still the DulaZeys?)

OTHER BLOG

MOM, SARA, KIM
check out my other blog.. have pictures of our fun day painting mom's room.
Two and a half "perfect" days and feelings better about myself already! This was a great idea! I'm excited to see the end result already. By the way, I tried to invite my mom to be an author on the blog and it would only let her view it. Stacy, if you haven't got my email about that I may need you to invite her so she can start writing. I've been talking to her a lot about it every day and they just left here to go back home and we all did pretty darn good while they were here! We may not all have "perfect" scores, but I'm pretty proud of my team so far.

cafe rio

that's right...i ate at cafe rio last night and it was delicious. i saved 14 of my ww points so that i could have a veggie salad. i ate half the tortilla, no guacamole, half the vinagrette, no tortilla chips and it was yum-yum. i am day dreaming about it today. so far i have not lost any points and i am feeling like this could be a close game. i am proud of you people for giving up soda. with all the other changes, i bet that is extra challenging.
how is shannon doing? i hope good.

Keep dreamin..

During my 7 plus hours of sleep last night, I had a dream.  In that dream I was eating.. and eating well, I must say.  The entire time I was enjoying my decadent treat I was trying to figure out how many points it (a little weight watchers thrown into my dream) had and if I should just go ahead and count it as my meal off.. worrying the entire time IN MY DREAM about this game.  I was so sad in my dream that I was going to have to deduct points because so far I have all my points.  I was relieved to wake up this morning and remember that I am still playing the game with no cheats or deductions.  Have to go drink some water now...

This game is going to kill me. 5 night shifts this week and no caffiene. I think I'm slowly dying.

It is possible!

I am so glad this day is over.  It was to be a very busy, stressful day on the go and I wondered how I was going to do everything (and eat everything) I was supposed to do.  I had to pack my 2 snacks, lunch and make dinner all before leaving the house by 9:30 a.m. (temple wedding at 10:20 and then right to work) and I had to exercise because I was going to be home late.  I also had to remember my water bottle of course.  I haven't even seen my team member today (opposite work schedules) so I HOPE he ate for dinner what I prepared for him.  It was hard, but I kind of like the challenge of it and I certainly feel better about my day when I am mindful of my eating habits.

The biggest hurdle of all today was resisting the MUDDY BUDDIES that someone had at work.  I am also so used to having a Diet Coke at work.. didn't cave in!  I am not missing it as much as I thought I would, however I am looking forward to my day off because I am going to the movie and I can not possible eat popcorn without my Diet Coke.

So far, so good.  I am with you Sara.  I think this should be a 4 times a year tradition, even if we don't lose alot of weight, it seem like a great way to get and stay motivated and be healthier.  We need to convince Dad to do it.  He might have fun.
Hey all you gut busters -- I'm still in the race! The bathroom has become my best friend. So far so good. Tyler tried to mess up my 7 hours of sleep last night, but I slept in an hour later than normal, so I got my 7 hours. I completed a whole day at work without any pop (caffinated or otherwise) so there is hope for me giving up a bad habit. I only imbibe while at work (to help pass the time? or maybe to add some variety to my day?) Anyway, I'm feeling good and enjoying the choices we're making. Thanks for the recipes girls! Everyone hang in there!

game on is great

i am like you, kimmie. i feel great. i keep thinking that we will have to do this game every once in a while (i.e. four times a year or something). it is so nice to have some structure and know that i am being healthy for my body. yeah!

Let's keep this up!

I can't believe I got ALL my points the first day. I feel so good even after one day and even after eating out last night for our "once a year" date! We went to a sushi bar and had to count that as our first meal off but didn't feel crappy after dinner because we chose veggies and shrimp instead of hamburgers. I'm so proud of my handsome hubby who, kind of surprisingly, is very into this and drank almost 4 liters of water yesterday and asks if everything I feed him is okay to eat! He will help me a lot!

Dinner

Dinner tonight was really good so I am posting my recipe.

Stacy's spaghetti squash supper
Spaghetti squashed, baked until tender. While squash cooked, I browned some turkey burger in a fry pan, no oil or anything... when it was near done, I added several sliced mushrooms and cooked until they were tender. Then I added a marinara sauce to it (Hunts brand has quite a bit less fat and calories) and a bit of salt, pepper & italian seasoning. When it was warm I served the meat sauce mixture over the spaghetti squash "noodles". Tanner even liked it. Todd was initially mad that I put the sauce on his squash.."You ruined the squash!" he said that before he tasted it. After he tasted it, he recanted his awfully mean comment and said it was "very good". I actually loved it and can't wait to eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Today went well for me and I hope it went well for all of you. I have a feeling that every point is going to count in this game. Get your sleep and I'll blog ya tomorrow.
eyeballs swimming and living in bathroom, other than that all is well

first day and i am loving it.

i am. it is so nice to have some structure and discipline again. i might not say that tomorrow or the next day, when i am really craving one of those truffles at mom's house, but as of right now, it feels really good. i only have a couple of cups of water left, but i need to install a bathroom in my pants.
stace, i think it is a great idea to add recipes. i would love to see anything that you guys have. a great place for recipes is hungry-girl.com. they send out newsletters to your email and they sometimes have some good ideas. i am planning on making baked chimichangas tonight with mom's leftover turkey. they are yummy!
here's the recipe if you want it:
2 1/2 c. shredded, cooked chicken (or turkey)
1 c. salsa
3/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
6 flour tortillas (10 inch), warmed
3/4 c. shredded cheese
1 c. chicken broth
2 tsp. chicken bouillon
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. four
1 c. skim milk
1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chilies
in a large skilled, simmer the chicken, salsa, cumin and oregano until heated through and most of the liquid is evaporated. place 1/2 c. down the center of each tortilla; top with 2 tablespoons of cheese.
fold sides and ends over filling; roll up. place seam down in a 9x13 pan (greased). bake, uncovered at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until browned.
in a saucepan, heat broth, bouillon and pepper until dissolved. combine flour and milk until smooth; stir into broth. bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. stir in chillies; heat through. put on chimichangas right before serving.
Well, here goes . . . it's nearly noon and so far so good. I have to up my water intake right away though so I'm not up all night interrupting my 7 hours of sleep. Being healthy definitely does take more concentration than eating whatever passes within reach while you're being lazy not exercising! I'm committed though, so watch out! I've already talked to Sara and Stacy so I get my communication points for sure (that was the easy part I'm sure). Better go -- my water bottle is calling . . .

Day One

How is everyone doing? We are about 3 hours into our 4 week game and I am feeling great!!! I have 60 ounces of water in me already and I have exercised for 75 minutes (I know, my team rocks) and I am already communicating with all ya'll. I am going for a perfect score today to start the game of right. I had oatmeal for breakfast and I plan on having a protein drink and banana for snack here in an hour or so. I am going to plan on posting some yummy recipes later today and would love to see any of yours that you are going to use. Maybe we could even create a gadget for recipes... I'll see what I can do. My recipes will focus on lean proteins & veggies and some complex carbohydrates. I am excited and ready to KICK SOME TRASH (mostly my own...)

GAME ON J.R.A'S!!

Not too Bad!

So the scale wasn't as mean to me as I thought it was going to be. That helped a little with my motivation! Things are going great so far for the "first day".

sleep info.

i thought about posting this before. i should have. i hope it helps.
oh, i am scared of the scale too!

Scared of the scale

I do not want to get on the scale tomorrow!! I have anxiety just thinking about it.  That is going to be the most difficult thing for me to do this whole month.  With the exception of drinking the equivalent of a swimming pool everyday.  Oh and NO DIET COKE!  It'll be fun though.  My goal is to get at least 1 perfect score everyweek.  Do you think it is possible?

Request for a scan

Sara, could you scan the information about the sleep enhancing activities that Todd will need to be doing in order to get his full points for sleep.  It said something about the "sidebar".  He does have a PM yoga and he also is using a light that is supposed to help him sleep also.

sorry that i am slow

sorry that it has taken me a while to get the rest of this stuff scanned. if there is any other information that you want from the book, please let me know.
the food thing is a little overwhelming, isn't it!?! as far as i know, no one is planning on following the game on food plan and that is okay by me. i think that if we are all honest with ourselves, we know what we should be eating and what we shouldn't be. we also know when we should give ourselves our full 30 food points for the day and when we shouldn't. choose for yourself how you will regulate your food and your food points and stick to it. in the end, we will only get the 20% bonus if we lose 1% of our body weight, so that will be a good measuring stick to know if we need to tweek things a little in our own personal efforts. what do you all think? does that sound good to you?
all i know is that thigh masters and trash kickers had better watch out because tres amigas (we really need a new name) are on the war path and we are out to kick your booties!

answer for girl's eyes only...or not

Adree's Out

I guess I was confused about the whole eating thing. Kim informed me today of the real rule of the game when it comes to the five meals. I'm very sad to say that there is NO WAY that I will be able to stick to that with my schedule and lifestyle. I guess I was under the impression that you had five meals a day and you just ate smaller portions and healthier choices. I was just planning on eating with my family only having small portions and healthier snacks instead of junk. I knew this was too good to be true for me. I'll be cheering for you all!!! I am still going to do all the same things as you guys but just change the meal part just a little.

My binge is over..

Can I just say I am glad to be starting tomorrow!! I have eaten way too much crap, and it is all your fault MOM! Well, really it is all of your friends faults that gave you all that candy and yummy goodness. I am ready to shed my flab and become FAB! Sara, what do you think about a goal being that I don't suffocate on my stomach fat when I do plough position in YOGA?

What did you mean about Todd getting extra time with his sleep? I told him he has to be in bed for at least 7 hours, trying to sleep, to get his points...

are you ready for this?

I am way excited to get started! The "thigh masters" are gonna kick your booties and enjoy every minute! I'm so ready to be skinny again it's not even funny. If I can just get all the rules and food right I think I can really get into this being healthy thing! GAME ON!!!

attention adree..

hi girlie! i am so excited that you are going to be on a team with us! i hope that that is okay with you. let us know if you have a better idea for a name. tyler's idea for thigh masters is pretty good. don't tell him i said that. let me know if you have any questions.

Read, Set, Go!!!

K ... now that I've been thinking about this for the last few days I am consumed by it. I just want to start already but I guess it's good that we haven't because I'm going to a movie today and you better believe that I'm going to have a tube of popcorn. I think it might be fun to do something for the one person that lost the most % of weight at the end too. I guess that would only work if everyone is trying to lose weight. Can't wait to get started. Hey by the way does Kim know how to post yet? Get with it Kimmy!!

let's see...

so, i think that todd should have some extra time if he has a night shift. we should all actually be weighing in on sunday morning (assuming that is your free day - exercise, food, etc.) and then we will have until monday at noon to report our scores. if you are posting your score by monday at noon, add your bonus into it (10 points). i will keep a running tally of teams scores on the sidebar. as far as reporting percentage weight loss, i agree with stacy, do it if you want to, especially if you have had a great week and want to brag. could be real encouraging and motivating for others.
each week there is a free day and a free meal (don't go crazy, just eat like you normally would). the free meal is on a separate day from your free day. the free day is a break from all the rules, they don't all have to be on the same day (i.e. you could have your exercise free day on sunday and your food free day on saturday). does that make sense?
it sounds like for a prize we are going to put money into a pot and the winner divides it. everyone will put in $25. we need this when the game begins. this will be easier than tracking it down. you can give it to me or to diana. if you give it to me, i will spend it, hehe, just kidding. i will probably just give it to diana for safekeeping. i hope this is okay with you, mom. i do think that in addition, stacy's bikini idea for the losers would be hillarious. the idea of putting on a bikini and flexing my bum cheeks is horrifying enough that i would either make sure that i win or leave the country.

Accountability

I think posting our scores by noon on Monday will be great.  I think if Todd works a night shift or something, he could have a few extra hours to sleep, wake-up, weigh himself, then add score and report.  Everyone else think that would work?

For girls eyes only!!

If you are a boy you may not want to read this--actually, if you are a girl you may not want to read this, but I need an answer from the all-wise, all-knowing Sara Minola.  I started my period today so how will that effect my weigh in this week?  I guess it won't affect this week, but it may suck at the end of the game, huh.  Does everyone know about the period week grace period?  Maybe you should post those pages, Sara.

questions...

adree, we are glad to have you!
i think that we should all report our own scores and if we get them in by noon on monday then we can get the bonus. what do you guys think?
for prizes...should we do something like the losers wash the windows, inside and out, of the losers (something service) or should we all put in money at the beginning and the winners divide it (prize) or should we have a get-together and have the losers do something embarrassing??? everyone write in with any ideas you have and then we can wittle away at it until we come up with something.
i haven't tried to add my goals to the side bar yet. stacy, do you do it by the gadget buttons on the dashboard?
i will try to scan some more pages. does anyone want the food plan information or is everyone following a different food plan (i.e. weight watchers or jenny craig)?
Thanks for letting me join. I am in desperate need of something and just to warn whoever is on my team I am the worlds best excuse maker. I can always find a reason not to work out, or why I needed to eat that candy bar. I hope that this will make me accountable. When and were do I Set my goals? I think the prize should be a cruise!! Hey let's make it something worth working for :) he he he

Prizes..

How are we doing prizes? Are we each picking our own prize or is each team coming up with a prize? I found the answer to the meal off and day off question I asked earlier Sara..

Who do we report to?

Sara are you going to take our points down or do you want me to? Or should we all be responsible for posting our own scores and if we do it by the deadline we get the bonus points..? What do you all think?

exercise

weigh-in

since we are starting on a monday, what if we weigh-in on sunday and report our scores on monday on the blog. should we also report our percentage of weight lost? what do you all think?

scoreboards

print these out to keep score on for each day. there is one scoreboard for each week .

how to play the game

you can click on each page and it will enlarge for easier reading :)

The Time is Slowly Ticking Away

So, having the kids home all day for Xmas break is not such a good thing for my "eating habits". I know, excuses, excuses! I'm such a bad meal preparer for my kids in the middle of the day cuz the things they like are very limited and its just easier for me to eat with them. Not to mention all the neighbor goodies sitting in front of me filling my kitchen counters. This is still, by far my favorite time of year. But with all the talk of losing weight....please, xmas be over already!

holy cow

i hope you are all still excited. i am! today i did the work out called "twenty and plenty" from the website that stacy linked us to. it was hard. matt did it too and he was crying. hehe, just kidding, but he was whining. anyway, i liked it because it didn't require any equipment at all and was supposed to take just 20 minutes (it took us 30). kimmie, this might be good for you since your treadmill isn't working.
one week until we start. yippee! oh, by the way, i am still waiting for my book. hopefully it will come today or tomorrow.

man up!

i am not scared of no stinkin' men! i will kick their booties! when i told mom about this initially, she said that dad may want to do it. that would be fun. the more the merrier.
stacy, i am impressed that you already have your goals. i can't wait to get my book. i will be posting my goals soon.
how are we going to decide teams? we could draw names, we could split up the men because they will probably lose fast...i don't know, what do you people think?

Another man to beat?? Bring it on!

Todd is saying he may want to join us.. he thinks he can win.. HA! He will never get his sleep points! I'll let you know what he decides to do.

You too can be an administrator!

Sara and Kim you can now post your goals to the side.  Just add a widget, (text option).  If you need help let me know.  Sara, tell me if there is anything I missed.  I am still considering the Diet Coke thing... I really DON"T want to.

Do we get a meal off every day or just a meal off a week?  And is that on top of the day off?  I don't quite get that concept.

Ty is going down

I am going to try to link us to information about the diet HERE.  Lots of fun information-I like how this girl writes (except for her occasional curse words)... quick reading.  Can't wait to start and kick Ty's jackrabbit a**.

How are we going to decide teams?? Dad should do it with us too.
i am excited that tyler is going to compete too! i don't want to be on his team because i want to beat his butt!!! hehehe. just kidding. stacy will have to send him an invitation too so that he run off his mouth on this blog. :) i hope everyone is thinking of ideas for prizes.

Can't wait!

Thanks for setting up the blog Stacy!  It's so cute....maybe this little experience will get me in gear to start my own personal blog!!!  I really don't know if I'm smart enough!  I'm so excited to start this thing too....so sick of not feeling good about myself.  Tyler wants to do it and compete "AGAINST" me....how rude!  I told him all I want for Christmas is for him to fix my treadmill!

obsessed

i couldn't sleep this morning, thinking about this. i am super excited.
to look at the book, go to amazon.com and look up game on diet (i tried to add a link here, but couldn't figure it out). you can read excerpts. the first pages are helpful. i can't wait to get started. yipppeeee!

I sent and email invitation to mom and kim.  hopefully they can figure it out.  on your mark, get set...GO!

i am an author, cool

stacy, i am slow...oh so very slow and stupid, but i figured it out. yeah!!! we have a blog and soon we will no longer have guts. i am so excited! thanks for starting a blog with an awesome name and thanks for joining us on this fun adventure.
oh, by the way, i was able to get to this posting section by going through your email invitation. can you send an invitation to kim and mom too? thanks.
