yesterday and today
Our home internet was down last night, so there was no post from me. Anyway, I'm back in business today and had a good one, just had to think a little harder about getting everything in after a few days off.

Congrats
Spend your money wisely girls.. Kim, just so I feel good about this, could you please take Ty's share of the winnings and buy a huge purse. Even if you don't, could you please tell me that you did. Sara, how does Alberta sound to you???
Upcoming Draft - Tyler announces that he is a free agent
I just wanted to pass along that I am a free agent in the upcoming draft of teams for round two. The "poultry queen" has made it very clear that she does not want me on her team. She apparently feels that she is the winning element of our team rather than me! As with all great sports dynasties, our winning team too must come to an end at some point.
Meno-Pause Pass
Well, I didn't get my 1% for the week, but just to get your sympathy I'm taking a meno-pause pass. Overall I did lose 10 lbs. for the 4 weeks, which I am excited about. This has been great fun and maybe I'll just take the money and run -- just kidding! I'll gladly turn it over to the true winners. I'm ready to start again on Friday, but in the meantime I'm going to stay on track. You're all great competitors with lots of determination and self control -- proud of you all.
tyler, you are in charge of posting all our scores to the top
or return our priveledges, you freakin' moron.
mom's score for the week is: 710.
my score for the week is: 850. yeah! finally a perfect week!
our total for the week is: 1560/2=780
our total for the game is: 3119
i have loved playing. thank you all for playing game-on with me. i lost 5 pounds for the month. i am very happy with that. i will get there, slowly but surely. i will keep my own game going this week, but i look forward to the competition starting again on friday. who's playing?

I'm not sure where to post these, but hopefully you do Kimmie. 845 for the week. I lost a total of 8.5 lbs the last 4 weeks. Thanks!
Annoyed
Annoyed because I can't post our scores where they are supposed to go...
Todd-804
Stacy-847.2
total-1651.2/2= 825.6
825.6 + 2335 = 3160.6
I lost 5 pounds this month and got alot healthier and more aware of my eating habits. Thanks so much for everyone motivated me to do this. Love you all.

Hallelujah
This has been a fun game, but I'm glad we are at the end! I think this week I have destroyed any chances my wife has of beating her nemesis. Hope everyone has had fun and that you are now a mere shadow of your former self. Congrats on ya'll's success.
Last Day of The Game (first day of the rest of my life..)
Wishing you all a magical weigh-in. I am willing to play again if we have weigh-in's on Friday and if we get points for staying the same. Love ya all you skinny healthy people.

lazy saturday
Thanks to my considerate husband....it was a very restful and lazy day. Looking forward to the sabbath and, of course, Monday's weigh-in (not!)
How bout Bear Lake this summer?
Stacy - we should look into some of these options:
http://www.bearlake.org/lodging-camp.html
This will give us all a chance to show off our new hot (and in some cases hairy) bods!

I AM SINCERELY THANKFUL (Edited by blog administrator)
.....for my handsome, and periodically hillarious, husband. Yes honey, I sometimes laugh on the inside so as to not encourage you too much! Hope everyone is having a great weekend and looking forward to a very scary, high pressure weigh-in on Mon.

Why can't we all just get along?
I know that we are all feeling a bit wasted- I mean, I am practically an anorexic ;)- but this bickering just needs to go the way of all of our bad carbs.. We need to embrace this game once again for the last 3 days and encourage and uplift each other. We need to "live like we were dying" as tim mcgraw so eloquently sang (because, literally, we probably are from water poisoning). Remember the good times-(when stacy and todd had a perfect week) and forget the bad times (when stacy lost no weight). Cherish the love we felt for one another at the start of this game and yes, even rejoice that our little brother Bart played with us. Peace be unto you all (freakin tards)
Did Sara leave for Canada early?
Sara,
I am so sorry to have offended you and your testimony of the truthfulness of the Gut be gone Chronicles (Now known as the "Thighmasters win by a landslide of In n Out Burgers").
Please accept my sincere apology and rejoin us around the warmth of dieting fire of fellowship so that you wont be lost in the "fold" of gluttony!
PS - I will continue to pray for your dieting welfare!

So sorry to have removed your privileges TY. Too bad I thought of it first. Put my privileges back or I am going to post some horrible things..
Suggestion for JRA
How about instead of messing with our fabulous blog title and our names, you workout or actually work!!?? Loves and kisses
This Week Has Been So Hard
So, I'm just wondering....what happens if I need to use my "period pass" on the last weigh-in day. I think I may be out of luck! How depressing!

What's a JRA????

Who's Tinkerin'?
I sense there has been some fritterin' going on with our wonderful blog. You can tinker all you want--we know who the faithful Diet On team is! Only four more days of enlightening communication, drowning our troubles in water mugs, and no gluttonous food -- I'll definitely miss it if we don't do it again.

Oh Canada - please accept my fallen sisters!
Have any of you ever tried "eating crow"? I understand it has a very low fat content, similar to sparrow or woodpecker!
I just wanted to offer my goodbyes to Sara and Stacy. I hope you two will enjoy Canada. I have enjoyed my expeditions into the french motherland - one involved my father hiding pistols and "explosives" to get us past the border guards (This is an exciting story that I will have to tell you another time when I am not stealing time from my employer).
There are many things "aboot" Canada that you will enjoy - we will miss you both (at least we will pretend). Good bye and good riddance!
Hey Thighmasters - I hear a melody in the distance.......it goes like this, "We are the Champions my friend, and we'll keep on fighting to the end".
Yes Stacy, I will take your stinking double or nothing bet.

Nothing like blogging at 2:30AM
So I have a question for the group. I know we get points for good sleep hygiene, but there should be some kind of reward for staying up for 40 hours straight. Or does that just mean I have to go hibernate for the rest of the winter to get my points?

A busy and good day
So busy today, but it was a good day....not going to let the stress of life get to me, and exercising sure helps!
Just Cause
I've had the very question you mention so discreetly, Stacy. Maybe the volume of those little (or big) fat cells makes up the difference. It's been a long day, but we all made it. I'm overall feeling so much better, thanks to you all.
I HATE BEING A WOMAN (JUST ONCE A MONTH)
So I've been so good til today....the brownies on the stove have been calling my name all day (all because I'm about to have my "womanly")! Sucks to be me this week!!!!
count me in too
i am totally in for another game! i will be doing this anyway (or trying) and it is so much better doing it with you guys as motivation. thanks!

It Can Be Done
Two days of eating out this week and I still lost weight! It just goes to show that every diet, even a healthy one, can use a little change every once in a while. I'm so proud of my team!!! You guys are all AWESOME! So, the other day Tyler said my butt looked firmer! How nice of him to say, but I actually think he may be right! What a great feeling! I'm excited to keep going and start another 4 weeks as soon as this one is done. Anyone with me?
Good week
...lost another 2.5 lbs this week and am continuing to have fun playing the game! Another perfect week with 850 pts! Thanks again for letting me play everyone.
what the h - e - double l ...
i weighed yesterday and was up 2.2 pounds. yep, you read that right. 2.2 pounds. so this morning, i waited and waited to pooh and nothing happened, so i just weighed myself and i lost 2 pounds since yesterday. no pooh, nothing. where did it go? this is very puzzling to me. so, i didn't get my 1% weight loss (sorry mom - you have a loser for a partner - just not the right kind), but i am not nearly as depressed as i was yesterday. i usually have an every other week pattern with weight loss, so you guys watch out this week. i may lose 10 pounds.
Amazing!
I think I'm going to the city to eat every weekend -- Cafe Rio and In and Out Burger especially. I was amazed to discover that I lost 3 pounds this morning. Maybe there will be a delayed reaction to all that good food (hope not). Love you all.

Hey?
I'm pretty proud of myself, in reference to our Salt Lake trip this weekend. We did eat out for every meal, but I don't think I made horrible decisions. Except, after our trip to IN-N-OUT I realized why Stacy and mom were trying to get us to stay the night!!!! Tyler fell for it.....but I got a "plain" hamburger with not even ketchup on it and limited myself to 12 french fries. It could've been a total dissaster!!!! I feel like I've gained a little weight back just cuz I haven't had restaurant food in a long time and I'm a bit bloated!!!! Stinkin' Salt Lake City!!!
here's a recipe for you...
sorry, there is no lean protein in it. maybe you could add chicken. it was good though.
cook some wheat penne pasta (i added some chicken boullion cubes to the water for some added flavor). while this is cooking, in a separate pot, heat up a can of diced tomatoes with red pepper flakes, garlic salt, salt and pepper, and italian seasonings. when pasta is done, add about 3 ounces of fat free cream cheese, 6 ounces (or more) of fresh spinach and pasta to the pot with the tomatoes. stir it all together and allow the spinach to wilt (1-2 minutes). you can top with a little parmesean cheese, although i had mine without and it was delicious.
i need more recipes too.

Three weeks and counting...
Hard to believe that we're coming to the end of the 3rd week...thanks again for letting me join the fun! ...had a nice and relaxing Sabbath with family. Hope the weigh-in tomorrow is a good experience for everyone....
Sunshine needed
I am begging for some new recipes that are good lean protein and lots of veggies. Also I am quite desperate for a bit of hope as it seems that I have lost my will to live.

homebody
how do you guys do it? you that have to leave the house. this game is so much easier when i just stay at home. tonight we went to vernal and it was hard to get all my water in and stay within my ww points, but i did it. tomorrow is my free day. hip hip hooray.
Exercised twice
...felt a little guilty about pizza factory yesterday, so I exercised twice today...saw the movie "Leap Year". It hat some beautiful scenery of Ireland (Tim loved it), and the plot/story was "ok". It was a nice Saturday after a busy week.
In and Out Heaven
It was so good to see members of the opposing teams this weekend. It was extra fun to watch them stuff their faces with grease and fat at In and Out Burger. I hope the scale rises up and bites you all in your cute arses... So sorry for the swearing Sara and Shannon. (Oh, and Mom and Kim). Is arse a swear word?? Well, anyway, it is my "day off" from eliminating cuss words from my vocabulary. So, have a fetching great day you beeches.

day off
Took the day off today with my meal....but didn't overdo...I hope! Pizza Factory salad bar and pasta with marinara. Yum!
Mending of Ways
Hey Little Brother (TYLER) - I have to say that for many years I have withheld the rightful apology which you deserve for the emotionally scarring "ketchup" incident. I now fully understand the pain and anguish I have caused you - I take full responsibility for all the mistakes you have made in your life, knowing that had I been more patient and kind with you that you would have felt more accepted as a young child.
Please accept my sincerest apology - feel free to apply ketchup anywhere you would like. I hope that the wonderful spiritual maturity you have developed will give you the ability to figure my horrific actions!

Just wonderin..
Well, I had dropped 6 pounds a few days ago, but now I am back up six pounds. Just wonderin if it would be ok for me if we established that as long as I got within a 10 pound range- like from 198 to 208- I could get my bonus points. It seems fair to me.
thanks for the recipes
for breakfast (and for almost every snack today) we had stacy's pear oatmeal muffins (only mine were peach because i have oh so many bottled peaches). i can't get enough of them. i had to put them in the freezer so that they weren't so accessible.
for dinner we had kimmie's lemon chicken noodle soup. yum-yum! matt and jake loved it too. could you all just keep postin' lots of recipes? i love it. i don't have to think about what to make for dinner.

Filled to the Brim
I just had steamed veggies, white rice, and pon pon sauce on the side for lunch, and it was yummy! I'm pretty sure I've overdosed on veggies though since I can hardly breathe. I'm starting to enjoy the water (what's with that?) even though I can't get far from a bathroom. No more trouble avoiding pop -- it's not even appealing anymore. I must admit, this is a very good game -- feeling better and having fun at the same time! My love to everyone -- take care!

I'm feeling the pressure...I guess I'm going to have to post some recipes 'cause all of yours sound so yummy! Yep, the water thing is still my biggest challenge...It just feels like I'm spending all day drinking and then trying to find a bathroom as I'm out and about on the job. I now know where every bathroom in every school in Iron County is located....
Struggling
Hi all -- I'm having a week full of meetings and snacks and good lunches, so it has not been easy! No supper last night and none tonight I'm afraid. Chile's chips and salsa are the best, with a warm chocolate chip cookie running a close second. Well, no more drooling -- we need to buck up and get back to business! Hope you're all doing well.
Recipe for Happiness
1 warm, home-baked chocolate chip cookie
Several hot, salty chile's chips dipped in the magnificent chile's salsa
I just wanted to share this recipe for all to experience a little satisfaction.
I am just so sorry that you don't have a Chile's near you.
It is really a shame that you live in the remote location you do.
Well, the scale is finally being nice to me. I'm excited to have this week over and see if I really did any good. I get to go grocery shopping tomorrow and I'm way excited to try some of the new recipes this next week. Hope my hubby likes them and hope he doesn't kill me before the 4 weeks is over for getting him to do this.
veggie saute
i made kimmie's veggie saute (with the broccoli, zucchini and tomatoes) last night. it was so tasty! thanks for sharing it with us kim. i am going to be making some of the other recipes this week. can't wait.

Too hard
This is the first day that I have worked since starting our game. Wow, lots harder when you are at work. I still have 20 ounces of water to drink and it took major planning and effort to get appropriate meals done, but I did. Todd is sick today so he is struggling too. However, we are fighters and even though we didn't do as well last week, we are HEALTHIER and MORE FIT than when we started, so we are focusing on that.
Kimmie, you carried me last week with your perfect score, and you inspired me to do the same this week. When I put on my suit this morning, the zipper went up easier and the jacket was less binding...good feeling. Someone once said that nothing tastes as good as healthy and fit feels. I just need to keep remembering that when I'm offered that piece of cheesecake or brownie (o:
Life is Too Darn Busy
My last two days have been way too hectic, with another crazy day tomorrow. I tend to nibble more on these kind of days, but I think I'm still within my bounds (barely). I'm loving hearing something from all of you each day on the blog and am really enjoying the game. You're all the greatest!

Pear Oatmeal Muffin
3/4 cup canned pear nectar (I used my pear jam for the nectar and the pear chunks-I guessed on how much to put in (maybe I put in almost a cup)
2 egg whites
2 T vegetable ( I used canola) oil
1 T lemon juice
1 teas lemon peel, grated (didn't use it because I didn't have it)
1 Cup whole wheat flour
1 Cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup brown sugar (I used the splenda brown sugar scant 2/3 cup)
1/2 cup low-fat granola (I used oatmeal)
1 T baking powder
1/2 teas ground nutmeg
1/2 teas salt
1 1/4 cups pear, chopped (I used my chunky pear jam as above)
As you can tell I made a few adjustments based on my taste and what ingredients I had available.
Oven to 350 deg. Whisk together first 5 ingredients in large bowl until blended. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until blended. Batter will be thick. Divide among 10-12 prepared muffing cups. Bake until golden brown about 20 minutes. Cool on rack.
WE ARE THE BIGGEST LOSERS
And not in a good way this time... Todd gained 8 pounds in one week and I gained .4 (stupid stupid scale). It is a tad discouraging, but I am trying to keep my perspective. I can do a NO ASSIST pull-up (that's right, sister) and I can see muscles in my arms where there has only been fat cells. I have a long way to go, but I am going to keep plugging along, because I too, feel better and I am going to try not to let the stupid stupid scale ruin this experience for me.
Week 2 is over, let's go have a margarita!!
better week
the scale was better this week than last. i sure am happy about that. biggest loser has taught me that the second week is always the hardest with weight loss, so let us all press on.
here's a little something that i cooked up in the crockpot (i saw it on good things utah):
5-6 chicken breasts, frozen
1 can corn, drained (i used some frozen)
1 can black beans, drained
15 oz. salsa
lime juice to taste
cook on high for 4 hours. shred the chicken. on good things utah they then added cream cheese (you could use fat-free), but we ate ours without. i have eaten it twice now. once on shredded lettuce as a salad with fat-free sour cream and toasted wheat tortilla strips and once as a soup kinda thing.
i am going grocery shopping today and i can't wait to get the ingredients to try more of your recipes.

Too Good to Be True!
I knew last week's weigh-in was a "once-in-a-lifetime" thing! My scale is telling me I gained 1/2 pound...ughhhhhh! Not what I wanted to have happen. I did so good this week too...what went wrong? Don't know how correct my scale is cuz' the first time I stepped on it said I gained 5 pounds, so of course I had to try it again! But anyhow, I won't blame the scale. I'm feeling really good and can tell a difference in inches around my tummy.....so I guess I'll just keep truckin' along and hope all my hard work will pay off this next week! Hope everyone has a better experience this morning!
Dadgumit! I didn't lose my 1% this week -- must be that 12 point cookie I had on Saturday (what a tummy ache!) and not being able to pooh at will. Everything else was great -- I'm loving feeling better and I have to remember that overall I have lost 7 pounds in two weeks. I'm rarin' to go again this week with new determination! Love to you all . . .

Grilled Chicken Veggie Saute
Made up the title, obviously, because I made up the recipe. We had it tonight and it is really good. Inspiration came from Lemony soup recipe posted by kimmie.
Grilled chicken breast (1 for each person eating) I use my George Foreman (LOVE IT)
Whole wheat pasta
Olive Oil
Lemon Juice
Garlic
salt/pepper
italian seasoning or fresh herbs
tomatoes (fresh or diced italian-I used fresh tonight)
yellow squash- chopped up into bite-sized pieces
spinach
Grill chicken -
Start Pasta-
Add a few tablespoons of olive oil with some minced garlic in saute pan. Cooked for a few minutes then added the tomatoes, & squash. Season with S/P and italian seasoning and cook for several minutes until the squash is tender. Throw a bunch of fresh spinach on at the end - only needs a couple of minutes and a bit of stirring. I actually added a couple of tablespoons of chicken broth just the help create some steam to help the spinach wilt. Cut the grilled chicken into strips or bite sized pieces and toss into the saute pan and mix it in to coat with the yumminess. Toss with pasta and sprinkle on a bit of parmesan cheese and/or low fat mozzerella.
We also had pear muffins made with whole wheat flour- They were the hit of the night at my in-laws house. I will try to post the recipe tomorrow if anyone is interested.
Another week down...
Hope everybody had a good week. I am starving and I hate mushrooms. Please, someone save me from my mushroom-loving freak of a wife. Mushrooms in my eggs, mushrooms in my salad, mushrooms in my stir-fry, mushrooms in my wraps. Every time I close my mouth, there is another mushroom.. I close my eyes, I see mushrooms. Reminds me of high school (what I can remember about it). KIDDING! Despite the mushrooms, I am gaining weight and losing the game for the trashtalkers. What is all of this for???
Good day
I know I keep posting just about the same thing everyday, but I had another perfect day. I'll try to be more original tomorrow. Good luck to everyone tomorrow with the weigh-in and thanks again for letting me be a part of this (o:
A Day Of Rest..
Can I please have a week of rest (from my diet)? I really think tomorrow may be a disaster on the scale. I hope you all have had a good Sabbath day and I wish you best of luck on the scale tomorrow. Do any of you watch Biggest Loser? One dude last week lost 34 lbs in one week! I would be happy with .34 this week!

Afternoon in Milford
Took my meal off today. Tim and I went to Milford (yes on purpose) and ate lunch at "The Station". Pretty good Chinese food for such a small town. Then we went to Parowan Gap and saw the Petroglyphs...Exercised (aerobic stuff) twice, just 'cause I felt like it!

Life is Good . . .
Hi everyone -- rode my bike again last night and am doing great with my food plan -- even the water is getting easier. I have been enjoying the 7 hours of sleep so much that I might go for 8. Sai invited us up for dinner last night and Kim had made some very yummy chicken soup (even had lemon in it). I asked her to post it so we could all have the recipe. Stacy, such cute pictures of our Ashby kids -- thanks for sharing. Anyone hungry yet?

My tummy feels happy.. (sigh)
Luke sampling my homemade pizza courtesy Aunt Sara-He would not have been so excited had I loaded his up with veggies, but he did concede to the carrots at least.

Sadie ate her entire plate, too!
Tanner looking so pleased to have a figure-friendly meal, AGAIN!
A few days ago he said to me "Can't you just be normal and feed us fast food, or just not be so obsessed with vegetables."
Toppings for my pizza- grilled chicken, yellow squash, carrots, spinach, mushrooms, turkey bacon (had no turkey pepperoni), fresh diced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese and a tad bit of parmesan cheese. I made the crust with 2 cups white flour and the rest wheat flour and it turned out great. I really couldn't believe how good it was. And we have some leftovers for lunch tomorrow-YIPPEE!
Just what I had been craving.. the crust was crunchy, the cheese ooeey-gooeey, the veggies crisp and yummy.. So good. Thanks so much for the recipe.
New Recipe
Thanks for your yummy chimichanga recipe Sara....it was a hit with the kiddos. I recently discovered my new favorite thing that I could eat for every meal, and would if it wasn't pasta. Tyler's already sick of eating it, but that's the difference between men and women I guess!
It's just
1 package whole wheat pasta, cooked (the kids like the tubes)
Saute 1 zucchini, 1/2 bunch of broccoli, 1/2 onion, 2 Roma tomatoes
in 2 tbs olive oil til tender
For flavor add 1 tsp garlic salt, coarse ground pepper, and lemon juice
Serve veggies over pasta and top with small amount of parmesan cheese
So, for some reason this second week I've been feeling like I'm gaining instead of losing...maybe that's normal. But I changed up my exercise routine today and did a fat burning pilates workout, showered, and put on some jeans that didn't fit as well a couple weeks ago, and suddenly I'm feeling much better about myself! All I have to say is Tyler better watch out tonight cuz his "poultry queen" just may turn into a "tiger"! Oh....did I just say that out loud?

in 2 tbs olive oil til tender
Children, Children -- Give Me Your Answer Do.
I got my new recumbent bike assembled and used it last night and it is heavenly! I really love it, but I'll let any of you use it if you promise to be nice. Gettin' used to all the water and healthy food, but sure would like a Snickers candy bar. Guess we just have to take it one day at a time, and try not to stress too much. Love hearing from all of you on the blog -- we're going to kick your patooties!
Sympathies and Condolences
May I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to all who are struggling out there with this game - he he he he
Okay, Okay - I will try to be nice for once! This week does suck if I must say so! I am getting to where all food tastes about like licking the bottom of one of dad's old cowboy boots. I need a little zestiness on my tongue. Some PF Changs (Scallops) sound REAL good right now! Tired of eating wheat this and wheat that...no mayo here....no butter there....watch the sugar this....too much sodium that! Kim caught me with both cheeks full of parmesan cheese last night....kind of reminded me of the "Life as we knew it" book where the girl gets caught stealing all the chocolate chips!
However, the game MUST and WILL go on. A champion WILL be crowned! My team will emerge triumphant. Just remember "Thighmasters"...."thine afflictions shall be but a small amount" - and then we will celebrate our victory over these inferior imbeciles (had to look that up on Websters).

i wanted brownies
so i made these:
brownie muffins
1 box devils food cake
15 oz. can of pumpkin
mix together (it will be thick). divide into 12 muffin tins (greased) and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. it was very yummy and 3 ww points each. i think you could make them smaller and still be very satisfied.
another idea:
spice cookies
1 box spice cake mix
15 oz. can of pumpkin
1/2 C. mini chocolate chips
mix and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. 1 ww point each. the place i got this recipe from didn't say how big to make the cookies, but my guess is to have this make 36 cookies.

Our first deduction
Todd ate popcorn tonight that was not sanctioned by our diet. I may have to consult an attorney.
Another perfect day
Today was a good day. ~only ate what I should and got in 1 hour of exercise. I think the 100 oz of water is the toughest part of this program!
Italian turkey wrap
Ground turkey-brown then add
Tomatoes
Spinach
Mushrooms-sliced
Italian seasoning, salt and pepper
Serve in a low fat wheat wrap or I also found some italian wraps that are yummy. We are trying to do no cheese (unless it's the WW cheese, mozzerella would be good as would parmesan cheese)
Struggling...
OK... so no trash talk this time (I am sure you are smiling gleefully at my discomfort, Tyler). I am struggling the last day or so. In fact, I decided to have my meal off today for lunch because I couldn't face more "good" food. It is crazy how guilty you feel, even when it is your free meal. I got a hot chocolate at Starbucks, however, I got it with NO whipped cream & NON FAT milk (yes, I am an annoying yuppie "I'll have a tall peppermint, non-fat, no whip, kids-temp hot chocolate". Um, YES, that is really how you order at starbucks--if you are cool like me). But, I ordered my kids an order of their mini-scones (vanilla-YUM) and I had one (CRAP). Then, I got chips and salsa from CHILE'S and a side salad (dressing on the side). I came home and I had eaten my scone and drank my hot chocolate and I was full, but I had warm tortilla chips that were calling my name because it was my stinkin FREE meal... so I had some of those after my salad. Because I usually have a diet coke with my chips, I cracked open one -- and then, guess what! I drank about an ounce of it and it tasted disgusting, so I dumped the rest down the sink. Mommy, I must admit I thought you were making up stories when you said that after going without DC for awhile it didn't taste good, but IT'S TRUE! It was the one bright spot in my never-ending struggle with my hunger lately. I POURED MY DIET COKE DOWN THE SINK TYLER BART!! So now my life sucks until once again I get a free meal/day. Ho-humm...
What a night -- dreamed I ate cookies all night and when I woke up I FELT like I had eaten cookies all night. I'm pretty sure it was a dream, hoping it was a dream, praying it was a dream. I must be having unconscious thoughts of Todd's sleep eating -- I feel your pain. Yesterday was a good one, only I had to have a tiny supper because I had a big lunch. It pays to just go to bed early on days like that. I bought myself a recumbent bike yesterday to help with my exercise, but so far I am just hauling it around in my truck (Dad had meetings last night, so no time to get it out before he had to go). I am excited to give it a try though. I wonder how much more stuff we can fit in our man cave room if we don't have the energy to haul it downstairs. Well, sure love hearing from all of you -- have a great day!
veggie pizza recipe
for those interested:
crust for 2+ pizzas (we made 2 1/2 pizzas, but next time i would probably make 3 because i like my crust thin and crunchy):
1 T. yeast
2 C. warm water
3 T. canola oil
1/2 T. salt
4-6 C. flour (i ground up some wheat and used that)
sauce:
2 cans (8 oz. each) tomato sauce
garlic salt and onion salt to taste
1 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
red pepper flakes to taste
toppings:
diced stewed tomatoes, drained (or fresh tomatoes would be yummy)
carrots, chopped fine
zucchini
lots of spinach
1/4 C. feta per pizza
mozarella cheese
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the oil, salt and 2 cups of flour. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes (or if you are lazy like me, mix it in your mixer for a few extra minutes). Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. The dough is ready to put on your greased pans. I then cooked my crusts in a 400 degree oven for 5-10 minutes to help them get crispy. After taking them out of the oven, dress them the way you would like and return to the oven until cheese melts.

Gut be growin
Congratulations to all on a great week. I have spent the last couple of hours contemplating this mornings weigh in, and I have come the following conclusion: One of three things is happening. Either my lovely wife is ramming donuts down my gullet all night while I sleep, or I have not only been sleep walking, but also sleep eating, or I have started my "man period". As a result, I have decided to start my own blog appropriately named gutbegrowinchronicles. Any intersted in joining? Beware, this is a game I will definately win! Much Love

Is that fear I smell??
Since cleansing my sinus cavity of all of it's excess discharge (love me some neti pot), I can smell so much better, and I think I smell fear in Tyler's post! His rantings about his lies to try to impress the ladies in high school and his ramblings about his current spousal relationship "adventures" cause me to chuckle inside at his obvious insecurities and terror that he is going to lose his hard earned money to his "evil" older sister (or maybe even me!).
Your sorry, skinny, naked, "frisky" bum is getting kicked.. cause that's what we do.. we kick the trash and bring the pain!
Happy Game On to everyone!
Weigh In Classic
Way to go "ThighMasters"! We are kicking some Dos Amigas crack! And as far as the "Trashkickers" go we will catch them this next week. I know Stacy all to well - she cannot maintain this level of discipline for more than a few days! Oh and Todd, I used to tell all the girls that I bulked up 15-20 lbs everytime I lifted too! The funny part is I never got any girls to believe it! LOL.
The weigh in this morning was the funnest part so far. I had no idea that the "Poultry Queen" from the Rass Roost would be so uptight about me being there when she weighed in. I had already weighed in for the day and quickly suggested that she should weigh in NAKED like I did, of which she quickly retorted with a vast amount of disgust and disdain, "NO WAY, GET OUT"! I, being the very obedient husband that I am, took a couple steps back to respect her request (actually, it was so that she couldnt reach me with a backhand) and waited for her to get on the scale. This of course took far longer than it needed as she searched meticulously for a perfectly level spot on our slate floor (non-existent) to place the scale on. After what seemed like an eternity, she finally found a location that suited her, and very carefully stepped onto the scale. All the while trying to shelter the results from my all seeing eye (sounds like Lord of the Rings huh). I am just glad the results were pleasing to "Poultry Queen", otherwise she may have pecked my eyes out.
Good luck all - looking forward to next weeks weigh in! Heres a funny one for you - I need to try this on Cole:

1st week points
Ok, thanks to Kim, I think I have this straight. My total for this week is 838 (including the 20% for having lost 1% of my total weight).
my stupid score
all of you suck with your perfect scores! i have to take a one point penalty for weighing twice today (once before and once after i poohed). i am also having to take my womanly week, so i will not count my bonus this week, but will add it next week when i have lost 2%. so my total score for this week is 709. if we lose by 1 point, so help me, i will smash my scale over tyler's head.
I'm pretty pleased to report that I earned a full 850 points for my first week. I was a little nervous to weigh in because I got put on an antibiotic and heard a rumor that it's hard to lose weight on antibiotics. Nevertheless, I lost 3 pounds which exceeded my expectations so I'm very happy! My hubby lost 7 pounds (darn his hide) and I've got the feeling it's making him feel a little "frisky". I'm sure he's hoping that will happen to me soon.....maybe in another 10 pounds!!!!
HIGH PROTEIN OATMEAL PANCAKES
I don't know if any of you are interested in high-protein recipes, but I thought I would post this one because it was fairly simply and I thought really filling. I included nutritional information so you can convert to WW points.
Ingredients-
4 ounces low fat cottage cheese
3 large fresh egg whites (I used egg beaters instead)
1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat griddle to 375 Deg. Place all ingredients in blender. Blend on medium speed for 1 minute, scrape contents from sides of container, pulse for another 15 -30 seconds. (At this point, I had to add a few teas of milk to get it to mix up and become the right consistency for pancakes-it will be a bit thicker, don't thin too much). Spray griddle with cooking spray, ladle batter onto griddle (about 1/4 cup each). Cook until bubbles appear on top of pancakes and edges appear dry (about 2-3 min). Flip and cont cooking another 2 minutes, depending on thickness.
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE SERVING, BUT TODD AND I SPLIT IT AND I WAS FULL!
I am staying away from refined sugar, so I used a little honey and a cut up banana on mine. You could also do sugar-free syrup and/or fresh blueberries.
Nutritional information-
Fat: 5 grams
Carbohydrates: 37.5
Calories: 304.6
Protein: 24 grams
Hi all you wonderful people -- I'm reporting in and I must say I was quite nervous about weighing in this morning, but thankfully I lost 5.5 pounds during the week -- yea! (I don't have Todd's worry about bulking up too much and gaining weight because of exercising!) I had a really good week and didn't take any days off except for exercise one day. Guess that means I get the full points possible (850?). I love the communication going on and the sleep we're all getting -- what a fun and exciting way to start out the new year and get us through January! Shannon, it's good to hear from you on the blog and hopefully you are able to sleep more now. Wishing you all a great week!

A bit nervous about the weigh in...
So Todd and I have been having several conversations about this coming up weigh-in. He is concerned that where he is trying to bulk-up (lots of weight lifting, lots of protein) that he is going to gain weight, instead of lose, which is probably true! Everytime he hits the p90x hard, he gains about 10-15 lbs of muscle, so he feels concerned that this will happen again (i am quite sure it will). Sara, what does the book say about people who play the game who don't want to lose weight. Is the game still fair to them-and how is it if they don't ever get the bonus points? OK, so I am concerned I might have to eat crow and move to Canada. Or maybe, just eat some Canadian bacon?? I may have been premature with my trash talking... Actually, I need to just focus on that we (and lots of people I care about)are getting healthier!
Wouldn't it be fun to be Todd and want to gain weight?
Good luck on the scales everybody!
score reminder
don't forget to turn in your scores by tomorrow at noon for a bonus (remember to add it in).
stacy, today for lunch we had your creamy crockpot chicken. i made it with fat free cream cheese and 98% fat free cream of chicken soup. matt had his on noodles and i had mine with a lot of peas. it was delicious and only 6 points. thanks for showing me your recipe in the cook book. there are other recipes in there that i want to try out.
i am loving having a day off exercise!

Woohooo! 25% DONE with this freaking waterboarding torture
I must say that I am thrilled to be 25% done with this little competition. I am already getting sick of asking my wife if it is okay to put something in my mouth. Also, the late night water drinking required to "catch up" for the day reminds me of the contests that we used to have as kids with the Brinkerhoffs. However I have found a new sense of passion & purpose in this competition by inciting the enemy. I must say that the thoughts of sending Stacy and Sara both to Canada as LOSERS makes me as giddy as Aunt Buela with a plate of french toast (dont ask for an explanation if you dont already know).
Now, taking on a more sportmanslike demeanor. I would like to propose an additional competition to keep this little game out of the doldrums - lets have a little side competition to see who loses the largest amount of weight as a percentage of their total body weight. What do you all think?

Feeling good!
So, I'm still sick but my belly is slowly, but surely, "shrinking"! What a marvelous thing, and a great motivator to keep going!!! I can't believe my "baby" is 1 year old. Where does the time go? I may just have to have a bite or two of birthday cake to celebrate!

day off
Took the day off with food yesterday, 'cause we were in Vegas. I'm back on today, but I've got a nasty cold and it's kind of hard to eat everything....just ate my last meal.
free day
today i used my free day for food and water and it felt a little weird. i am ready to be strict again tomorrow. i am feeling a little stressed about weighing in since i had my free day already. i am sure that it is a mental thing.
I'm Sick
So...I have a bad sinus infection and am feeling it go to my chest. I'm still doing great with the diet but am worried about exercise. If I get pneumonia (heaven forbid!) could I still run? Running is the only thing that makes me feel like I'm burning calories!

pine nuts
i had a few pine nuts on my salad tonight and then i checked the calories and fat grams. those stupid little things took up 1/6 th of my ww points for the day. they were tasty, but not that tasty. afterwards, i thought, i should of had that be my meal-off, but who wants a salad for a meal off? i am like stacy, i am having a hard time letting go and eating something caloric. i am enjoying this healthy lifestyle stuff, even the pine nuts.
I love to communicate.. It is my forte
I like my day off, however I am like Stacy-it's a bit hard to eat the really crappy food again. I am glad you all are doing well, hopefully, I will be able to feel good about things when I haven't worked 5 nights in a row. I thin my favorite part of the game is that I get to communicate several times a day.. It is really fun.
Day off
So today was my day off (of eating perfect). I must say, it was a bit hard to just "let go" and eat how I would normally eat. I mean, I did for the most part, but not without some thought about how it was going to effect my GAME and my WAIST. Todd and I are working out so hard that it is sometimes with great effort that I eat something really "caloric" because I know how hard I am going to have to work to get it off. But, needless to say, I did enjoy a few nachos at the movie along with some buttered popcorn (EEEKK!!). We are going out tonight with Stef and Tyson and we are going for a little Japanese, hopefully I can find something a little better than nachos and popcorn. I also had a Diet Coke, so I will have to schedule an interview with President Rasmussen (that would be self-elected TYLER Rasmussen). I enjoyed my DC, but not as much as I thought I would, and despite everyone's concern for my addiction, it really hasn't been that hard to go without. I am still doing my water and am NOT going to take a day off trying to get my sleep (favorite part of the game). Still loving the game and all of those playing! Good luck to all, even you little Bart Rasmussen.
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL! I must say, this is going to be a tough game -- especially for Ty and Todd -- they are goin down! (Thanks for not saying terd on our blog, Ty, and thanks for being modest while modeling your fancy purse, Todd.) Hey, I tried Sara's recipe for chimichangas last night and it is yummy -- need to definitely use the sauce on other mexican recipes. Took a day off from exercising yesterday, but no more! I'm buckin up and have new determination today, so watch out! I'm sure loving my quiet day at home and I'm in an organizing mood to boot, so maybe I'll actually get something done. Ty, don't despair -- I haven't been bootlegging that much with diet coke, but my goal is to not drink ANY pop, and so far I'm doing great. Who could drink anymore anyway, with all this water that's going through us? Everybody have a great day!
